family. Jiu-Jitsu concentrates on dominating your opponent on the ground by

body movement. This style allows for a smaller person to defeat a much larger
attacker. We recommend this style for men and women looking for a great workout

person is on top of you ready to end the fight - Learn unbelievably simple but
effective ways to completely disable any attacker using arm bars, leg locks, and
chokes - You will learn the world famous mata leon choke (the lion killer), this
technique is so effective it will allow you to put an attacker completely to
sleep, ending an attempted assualt within seconds - Discover techniques that
will insure that no matter what your size, weight or athletic ability - YOU WILL
NEVER BE A VICTIM.
Throwing
Throwing and takedowns involve closing with the opponent taking a grip and breaking his balance so that he falls to the ground. A throwing technique can make use of the hand, hip, shoulder, leg or foot to throw, sweep or trip the opponent. A takedown involves shooting the leg. Defending the takedown is the opposite side of the coin but just as important.
Self-Defense – The Reality The Truth Martial arts training is like a multi-faceted diamond. Depending on how you view it you see different things. Some people might see mainly physical benefits: stamina, muscle tone, flexibility, coordination, etc. Others see mainly mental benefits: discipline, concentration, focus, self-confidence, self-control, etc. Most martial arts generally address both of those areas whether the training is Karate, Jiu Jitsu, Tae Kwon Do, Kung-Fu, Kickboxing, kickboxing aerobics etc... People simply looking for a workout or something to develop their focus can enroll in just about any program and get some form of results in those areas.
The problem is that just about everybody practicing martial arts assumes they are learning something about self-defense, from someone they assume is an expert of self-defense. The sad and often brutal reality is that they are not, and many times the instructors only experience is a tournament setting, not the street, war zone, where things are real. While most martial arts do address various mental and physical aspects of training, the vast majority simply do not address Real self-defense training. This is extremely unfortunate because again 99% of the people involved in martial arts think they are developing self-defense skills.
Though there are literally thousands of different systems to train in - only a handful are statistically proven in real combative situations. This is not to throw stones at other martial arts, but simply stating a fact. Doing high, jumping, flying, leaping, spinning kicks are fun and develops great flexibility, but certainly won't help you at all when a larger, stronger person grabs you from behind and lifts you off the ground. Practicing hour after hour of punching the air might look nice but certainly won't help you when that perfect looking punch doesn't do anything to stop an enraged attacker.
Horribly and wrongfully - this is generally what is presented to the public as martial arts. Whether the student is a child or adult, real self-defense skills should be taught (age appropriate of course). This means proven - practical - and effective techniques utilized in a variety of situations. Do all martial arts have something to offer? In regards to physical and mental benefits yes. However, for self-defense, self-protection, or combative skill a resounding NO! Many would get seriously hurt in a real situation. No Martial arts are more proven than those taught at Summit Martial Arts, by instructors that have used the techniques effectively in real world situations.
Testimonial: Over the past ten years I have had the opportunity to train with some of the best and worst martial arts instructors in the world. As a Police Officer and a member of the US Army Special Forces I am always searching for the best instruction available. I can say with confidence the instructors at Summit Martial Arts are some of the best I have encountered. Summit does an excellent job of presenting traditional martial arts in a practical, usable system. Whether you study Shorin Ryu Karate or Japanese/Brazilian Jujitsu you will receive a solid well-rounded education in self-defense. As an officer I have seen too many “so called black belts” destroyed in physical confrontations. Granted no art is perfect and anyone can lose a fight. However, I am convinced that a student of Summit Martial Arts will be more prepared to defend him/herself if attacked than the students of most other studios. I would also recommend Summit to any police officer or member of the military looking to supplement their Defensive Tactics or Combative Training.
