Find Peace inside of ones self

Philosophical  and Personal Growth

Summit Martial Arts is dedicated to changing the popular perception of martial arts, from that of exercise and self-defense only, to a path of personal development and spiritual growth dating back over 1500 years. Why were the Shaolin monks such legendary martial artists? Why are Okinawan’s the longest living people on earth? Why do elite athletes use martial arts to become better at their sport? They all know that physical training alone is not enough. You must strengthen the mind, body, and spirit. At Summit Martial Arts we aim for complete discipline over the mind and body, so that we become masters over our actions, rather than prisoners of our reactions. Excellent Martial arts skills, coupled with meditation and proper motivation and philosophy of practice, can be an effective path to higher states of awareness and personal transformation. While seldom realized in the west, meditation was the original foundation of all true Martial Arts. The ability to control the breath, and thereby discipline over thought and emotions, is fundamental for living a calm, peaceful and productive life. Learning to discipline the mind is fundamental for all those involved in the serious practice of Martial Arts. Summit Martial Arts is one of the most successful programs in the U.S. Each week, hundreds of students pass through the doors to learn how to live more peaceful and fulfilling lives.

LESSONS IN MINDFULNESS

One of Sensei Riedmiller’s best friends Sifu Robert Brown created the "Lessons In Mindfulness" program, which is being used worldwide in the very best authentic martial art schools across the globe. Designed for serious martial arts students, the program inspires greater understanding of the philosophical and personal growth aspects of practice. Students begin to see the effect of martial arts on their daily lives outside of the dojo. Not only do they notice physical improvement in class, their daily life, work, and relationships become less stressful and more fulfilling. By understanding the power of true martial arts, students become committed and dedicated to their practice for years to come.
